Overview
Micro Perforated Panel
A rigid panel perforated at 0.5–1.5 mm across 3–8% of its face. Set over an air cavity it behaves as a resonant absorber, and the cavity depth can be sized to the frequency a room actually has a problem at.
Unlike porous absorbers, which work broadly across the top of the spectrum, a micro-perforated panel is selective. Change the open area or the depth of the cavity behind it and the absorption peak moves.
Two cores are available. The MDF core takes a decorative paper veneer in wood grain or plain, with optional UV or melamine coating, and is the one to specify when the panel has to match a joinery package. The polyester core is lighter, recyclable and formaldehyde-free.
It is also the choice where hygiene rules out exposed fibre: hospitals, food production, laboratories. There is nothing on the face to shed.
We calculate the cavity depth against your room measurements. Send us the RT or a recording and we will size it.
