Overview
Soundproof Door
A heavy, gasketed door and frame supplied as one set, weighing between 100 and 250 kg. In almost every room we survey, the door is the weakest point in the wall, and no amount of wall treatment gets past it.
A standard flush door in a standard frame leaks sound around all four edges. You can build a partition to a high rating and then hang a door that brings the whole wall back down. Rating the wall without rating the door is wasted money.
The leaf comes at 60 mm or 100 mm — the thicker one for studios and cinemas, the 60 mm where a meeting room needs privacy rather than isolation. The frame is solid wood and is supplied with the leaf, because the seal only works if the two were made for each other. Hardware and suspension are stainless steel, which matters on a 250 kg leaf that will swing several times a day for years.
Fire resistance is Class 1, A2-s1, d0, rated to 60 minutes. A laminated acoustic vision panel is available where a control room or classroom needs sightlines.
